Sandra (not her real name) had been a solid, faithful, contributing member of our church for years. She’d also been a leader in other Baptist churches before attending ours, so it came as quite a confusing surprise when we learned she was being baptized one Sunday morning. Wasn’t she already a believer? In that denomination she would have had to go through believer’s baptism to be involved in any leadership. Hadn’t she already been baptized? The answer, it turned out, was that she hadn't even been a believer — and it has everything to do with questions and answers, reasons and readiness.
